my roots are in kurzeme,
on the western coast of latvia.
baltic traditions carry a worldview
that closely weaves nature, soul, and god.
this has instilled in me
a deep reverence for the natural world
and the interconnectedness of all things.
i found metalworking by accident.
i watched metal melt, and those five seconds changed the way i see the world.
in that moment i felt the universe
in its power and structure.
and i found myself.
today my studio practice
is an ongoing study
of a primitive yet poetic language.
metal carries it
in deep and silent knowing.
iron has been here
since the beginning of time.
working with it teaches
about time, presence,
and being human.
